Pallets are delivered to the appropriate hub and then picked up by their destination vehicle to ensure timely delivery in an extremely efficient manner, and means that each delivery vehicle runs less miles per delivery.

At YDL, we support several charities. One of which is the Martin House Hospice for children and young people, for which we have their logo proudly displayed on one of our wagons.
On the 12th of March, some of the team at YDL took part in the Yorkshire Three peaks challenge to support the Martin House accumulator challenge. The walk was set out in the early hours of Saturday morning, the challenge for the team was to cross the summit of the 3 peaks and complete a 24-mile walk in under 12 hours. We successfully completed it in under 12hours!
What does the Martin House Children’s Hospice do?
Martin House support and cares for families that have children with life-limiting conditions in their local community. All of the money raised will go towards more families and children who go to Martin House. Running places like this usually costs around £28,000 per day. Every donation made will help towards ensuring Martin House can keep providing essential care for the families that go to them for the best possible support.
The story behind our team’s name.
Kristian, a member of our team ‘Yankee Darcy Lima’. Has had support from Martin House since 2019 after the loss of his 6-year-old daughter Darcy. This is why ‘Darcy’ is part of the team name. Martin House has helped Kristian and his family by guiding them on the right path and providing support whenever is necessary. The walk was very special to Kristian as he could do it in the memory of Darcy.

Why did you want to participate?
“It is a challenge I have been keen on doing since I moved to North Yorkshire 4 years ago, but the fact it was to be done under the premise of raising funds for Martin House Children’s Hospice made it even more appealing. I have first-hand experience of the work they do at the Hospice when our daughter, Darcy, passed away in January 2019 so it made it more special to be able to do this in her memory.”
How did you find the experience?
“Exciting! But during the climbs, I had a slight issue with my knee, and it made it difficult. I felt like I was hitting a wall halfway through, but the team dragged me through. It was a real buzz to say we completed it!”
How do you feel after completing the challenge?
“It’s amazing! A real sense of accomplishment and proud feeling to say I did it… with no training!”

“This was for an excellent cause which is very close to our hearts at YDL.”
How did you find the experience?
“The experience was possibly the toughest I’ve had to date. I am a very competitive person so the 12-hour challenge provided the motivation I needed to keep going, I knew if I didn’t complete within the 12 hours that I would feel like I failed the challenge.”
How do you feel after completing the challenge?
“I could barely walk when I got home, was one toenail down, and had blisters on every toe and on the soles of my feet, but, I felt extremely proud of the whole team and the efforts that every single one of us made. From exceeding the donation target to everyone completing the walk, it truly was a fantastic achievement for a very worthy cause.”

Before Brexit, trade between Northern Ireland and the UK was simple as they were considered wholly one entity. Consequently, rules that applied to the UK also applied to Northern Ireland. However, following Brexit, the UK government and the EU created new regulations specific to Northern Ireland trade. The government officially considers these temporary, but the latest update to Norther Ireland trade guidance was in July of 2021.
Suppose you have customers on a consumer level in Northern Ireland. In that case, there are no new requirements for the customer receiving goods. Likewise, if you are shipping items to a business, and the total value of the goods is under £135, the company in Northern Ireland also doesn’t need to accommodate any new requirements.
A few extra steps are required to ship goods under £135 to a business in Northern Ireland. Any excise goods that are already UK duty paid do not need to be declared to customers. Businesses based in Northern Ireland receiving goods from a company in Great Britain must fill out a declaration form. Certain items are restricted and cannot be shipped to Northern Ireland without further steps. These include:
