At YDL we are the people who care, handling your packages with care. APC Overnight, our parcel network, consistently achieves a fulfillment of on time deliveries for 99.8% of our parcels.
To ensure our pallet distribution could maintain the same standards we knew that partnering with The Pallet Network (TPN) was the right choice for us and the right choice for our customers.
Coupled with our 3rd Party Logistics warehouse we ensure that we fulfill all of your freight needs.
Today we’d like to talk about our wonderful partnership with TPN and how they help ensure that your pallets end up where they need to be, when they need to be there.
The Pallet Network is a distribution network that spans the UK. Comprising of 120 partner companies servicing 130 depots and three central hubs, The Pallet Network is the way logistics is meant to be.
By reducing mileage covered per collection and delivery and by reducing the area a single partner has to deliver and collect pallets within, The Pallet Network ensures an environmentally friendly and ultra-efficient way of ensuring your pallet gets to where it needs to be.
Each partner, of which YDL is one, is allocated a number of postcode areas and collects and delivers freight solely within those areas. The TPN Pallet Network consists of three major hubs, one in the North in Preston, one in Coventry for all the freight heading to or from the South-East, and one in Minworth for everywhere else.
Pallets are delivered to the appropriate hub and then picked up by their destination vehicle to ensure timely delivery in an extremely efficient manner, and means that each delivery vehicle runs less miles per delivery.
Sending your pallet(s) with YDL means that you benefit from the efficiency of The Pallet Network too, ensuring whether you want to receive a delivery from the South, or send one to the South, no where in the UK is out of our reach. With our delivery options to suit any budget we ensure our services are always within yours.
Your freight is valuable to you and it is even more so to us. When using YDL you know your packages are handled with care by people who care, and to ensure you know where your pallet is at every step of the way we take advantage of the TPN track and trace system.
TPN Tracking is run through TPN Connect, their own bespoke IT suite which allows both their partners and their customers complete transparency, control and all the management information a concerned customer or partner could desire.
With TPN tracking is easy, it has been built in house by logistic experts and is constantly updated in-line with the needs and feedback of both customers and partners alike.
Offering customers a way to book their own jobs, print their own labels and scan their own pallets, the beginning of the logistics journey can all be handled by the TPN tracking system. Pallets can be tracked all the way to their destination, all the while receiving e-mail notifications with estimated time of delivery and an electronic Proof of Delivery (ePOD) receipt. With 24/7 access to the TPN tracking web portal and a simple to use TPN app available on your phone, the TPN tracking system really has it all.
Using our YDL pallet services ensures you benefit from our partnership with The Pallet Network and the state-of-the-art TPN tracking system.
You will also benefit from our deep desire to listen to our customers and offer the flexibility you need and to handle your requests with a range of options to suit you.
We know punctuality is paramount in the shipping and delivery of freight and so we offer next day delivery, time critical deliveries, and Saturday services so that you can ensure your pallet arrives where it needs to arrive when it needs to be there.
We also offer an economy service which offers delivery within 2 to 3 days so that everyone, or those with less urgent deliveries, can still experience our world class service at a price that suits them.
We are able to ship single pallets, multiple pallets and fully loaded trucks. If you happen to be a smaller business without lifting equipment on site, our tail lift service has you covered.
And finally, for your clients and customers overseas we offer international shipping and delivery across the globe.

If you’re looking for a reliable pallet courier, a trusted TPN member is the best place to start. Listed below is more information about TPN, how they work and the benefits of using a courier in the network. We are an independent courier for all types of freight such as small parcels, like mail, packets and boxed freight all the way to large pallets that hold heavy materials.
Here’s some information and history behind TPN.
TPN was founded in 2000, and in 2019 they were awarded pallet network of the year, which they still hold today. At present, TPN has 130 partner locations and has delivered 5m pallets in 2021.
They offer a cost-effective palletised freight delivery. The pallet network offers excellent and convenient service levels and efficient ways for regional distribution specialists to offer their customers a national service. TPN is also the most effective way to move pallets anywhere in the UK. They have the best postcode coverage and have track&trace which shows customers proof of delivery.
TPN’s partner companies like us (YDL) collect and deliver freight within our allocated postcode areas. It’s fast, super-efficient and means that each individual partner performs a minimum amount of trunking.
The service offers peace of mind because you can track & trace your pallets from your mobile phone. Wherever you are, rest assured you’ll never miss a parcel. This is especially helpful in the case of expensive or fragile deliveries! A forklift truck allows the pallets to be moved easily. By choosing TPN as your pallet courier, you are saving a significant amount on costs. Not forgetting you are able to ship your products in bulk. Instead of sending multiple stockpiles through normal delivery services, choose to use TPN.
There are many benefits to TPN and how they add value to YDL. Below are some benefits.
Pallets are used for a lot of different things for businesses. They can offer storage and a base for assembling and transporting materials and products. Pallets provide vital protection to the product when they’re being transported to the final destination, ensuring they arrive intact.

At YDL, we support several charities. One of which is the Martin House Hospice for children and young people, for which we have their logo proudly displayed on one of our wagons.
On the 12th of March, some of the team at YDL took part in the Yorkshire Three peaks challenge to support the Martin House accumulator challenge. The walk was set out in the early hours of Saturday morning, the challenge for the team was to cross the summit of the 3 peaks and complete a 24-mile walk in under 12 hours. We successfully completed it in under 12hours!
What does the Martin House Children’s Hospice do?
Martin House support and cares for families that have children with life-limiting conditions in their local community. All of the money raised will go towards more families and children who go to Martin House. Running places like this usually costs around £28,000 per day. Every donation made will help towards ensuring Martin House can keep providing essential care for the families that go to them for the best possible support.
The story behind our team’s name.
Kristian, a member of our team ‘Yankee Darcy Lima’. Has had support from Martin House since 2019 after the loss of his 6-year-old daughter Darcy. This is why ‘Darcy’ is part of the team name. Martin House has helped Kristian and his family by guiding them on the right path and providing support whenever is necessary. The walk was very special to Kristian as he could do it in the memory of Darcy.
How much we raised
Our goal was to raise £3,000. We have currently raised an amazing £4,400 with 101 supporters. 48% over our initial goal! https://bit.ly/3NORi4Q
What our team had to say
Why did you want to participate?
“It is a challenge I have been keen on doing since I moved to North Yorkshire 4 years ago, but the fact it was to be done under the premise of raising funds for Martin House Children’s Hospice made it even more appealing. I have first-hand experience of the work they do at the Hospice when our daughter, Darcy, passed away in January 2019 so it made it more special to be able to do this in her memory.”
How did you find the experience?
“Exciting! But during the climbs, I had a slight issue with my knee, and it made it difficult. I felt like I was hitting a wall halfway through, but the team dragged me through. It was a real buzz to say we completed it!”
How do you feel after completing the challenge?
“It’s amazing! A real sense of accomplishment and proud feeling to say I did it… with no training!”
Why did you want to participate?
“This was for an excellent cause which is very close to our hearts at YDL.”
How did you find the experience?
“The experience was possibly the toughest I’ve had to date. I am a very competitive person so the 12-hour challenge provided the motivation I needed to keep going, I knew if I didn’t complete within the 12 hours that I would feel like I failed the challenge.”
How do you feel after completing the challenge?
“I could barely walk when I got home, was one toenail down, and had blisters on every toe and on the soles of my feet, but, I felt extremely proud of the whole team and the efforts that every single one of us made. From exceeding the donation target to everyone completing the walk, it truly was a fantastic achievement for a very worthy cause.”
Why did you want to participate?
“For Team Building and a great charitable cause”
How did you find the experience?
“Really enjoyed it, great fun with the whole team.”
How do you feel after completing the challenge?
“Looking forward to the next opportunity to do more charitable work.”

Brexit and COVID-19 have dramatically impacted trade between the Mainland UK and Northern Ireland. Compared to the free trade that once occurred, businesses must dutifully follow numerous rules and regulations. If you’re looking to ship goods to Northern Ireland, YDL is here to help. As experts in business logistics, we’re here to help you deliver goods to Northern Ireland efficiently and smoothly. Learn more about the new protocols in our Norther Ireland Shipping Guide here.
Before Brexit, trade between Northern Ireland and the UK was simple as they were considered wholly one entity. Consequently, rules that applied to the UK also applied to Northern Ireland. However, following Brexit, the UK government and the EU created new regulations specific to Northern Ireland trade. The government officially considers these temporary, but the latest update to Norther Ireland trade guidance was in July of 2021.
Suppose you have customers on a consumer level in Northern Ireland. In that case, there are no new requirements for the customer receiving goods. Likewise, if you are shipping items to a business, and the total value of the goods is under £135, the company in Northern Ireland also doesn’t need to accommodate any new requirements.
A few extra steps are required to ship goods under £135 to a business in Northern Ireland. Any excise goods that are already UK duty paid do not need to be declared to customers. However, there is still a liability to excise duty in Northern Ireland. This is offset by any paid in the UK, however. Check out the UK Government page for more information.
Businesses based in Northern Ireland receiving goods from a company in Great Britain must fill out a declaration form. Certain items are restricted and cannot be shipped to Northern Ireland without further steps. These include:
There are essentially no new requirements beyond minor EU laws for the vast majority of goods moving to the UK From Northern Ireland. However, an import declaration will be required in Great Britain and an export declaration in Northern Ireland.
For more guidance on new Northern Ireland Shipping requirements, contact YDL today. Our expert team will help you make the best of our services as a leading UK logistics provider. From APC overnight delivery to hazardous chemicals and warehousing, we help your business logistics run as smoothly as possible.
