YDL Christmas

Merry Christmas from the YDL Team

Christmas is an incredibly busy period for logistics for both providers and our customers. Now that the presents are sold and delivered, the YDL team sincerely hopes you enjoy your holidays!

This year has presented unprecedented challenges in the logistics industry. From worldwide shortages to accidental traffic jams in globally-vital ports, it’s been a crazy year of helping you manage your supply chain!

Learn about some of the highlights of our year at YDL, how our delivery options measure up to Santa himself, and more!

YDL’s Christmas Highlights

The YDL team is passionate about logistics and our local area. As a part of the APC network, we’ve found opportunities throughout 2021 to display our passion through action. This year, we’ve celebrated our award-winning service alongside APC. We’ve also helped fellow APC partner NEP meet the challenging demand this year has brought.

We looked after our own this year too. Our partnership with Westfield Health has allowed us to offer our staff private healthcare and dental plans as we recruit more and more HGV drivers. In addition, our new vehicles now feature the logo of the leading local charity “York Against Cancer”, helping to spread awareness from our depots and beyond.

How we Stack up to Santa

When Jolly Saint Nick rolls down the chimney late on Christmas Eve, he has learnt to master the efficiency of his supply chain. Over just one night, according to The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Santa has to travel at over 650 miles per second to deliver around 321,300 tons of cargo!

Whilst we aren’t travelling that fast, with over 115 national depots alongside overnight tracked delivery, we can confidently supply your business at a speed Santa wouldn’t sneeze at!

Smooth, fast logistics are a vital aspect of modern business. Customers demand efficiency and convenience in an ever more interconnected world. Unlike Santa, we don’t just deliver presents through chimneys. We can deliver everything from packages to hazardous chemicals across the UK and internationally, with a wide variety of delivery options available.

If you’re looking for your own Santa’s Grotto – we’ve got you covered here too. YDL offers over 200,000 sq ft of warehousing space for all of your materials, presents, et cetera. Warehousing is a great way to consolidate our supply chain for next year. Learn more about our warehousing services here.

Once again, Merry Christmas from the YDL Team! We’re looking forward to continuing to work with APC, our loyal customers and the new customers we’ll meet across 2022. Contact YDL to begin your logistics journey for the new year or learn more with our guides. We offer frequent updates and technical information on all aspects of our part in the logistics industry. Top Logistics Lessons 2021

Why You Need Professional Logistics For 2021

2020 was certainly a tumultuous year, filled with surprises and incredible changes that have no doubt led your business down a very different path than the one you began upon in January. If 2020 has taught UK business anything, it’s the importance of logistics to stay afloat. There’s no doubt an unprecedented amount of businesses that will have locked down for good, so to speak, without an eCommerce platform and delivery service. As the very last Christmas presents find their way to their new homes, and we prepare for the finale of this year of twists and turns, let’s recap the lessons 2020 has taught us and how a professional logistics team like YDL can make 2021 just that much easier for your business.

1.      Logistical Needs Can Change At A Moment’s Notice

From supply shortages to increased delivery demand, every aspect of the logistical chain can change at a moment’s notice. This is true regardless of current events, but a global pandemic has indeed highlighted this unavoidable truth for businesses across the UK. Your logistical needs will change, and you need a delivery partner ready to adapt with them. As lockdowns continue into early next year, thankfully with a vaccine in sight, trust our vast array of shipping options here at YDL. For top-quality shipping, including Hazchem and pallet shipping, contact us today.

2.      Current Events Impact Logistics

Obvious, but vital to remember. Your business might be dealing with agriculture, but the current medical crisis will affect it. You need to be prepared as a business to stay in tune with the world around you to ensure you can continue to operate efficiently and effectively no matter what changes 2021 will bring. For example, the possibility of a no-deal Brexit leaves future trade and shipping between the UK and the EU in a serious state of uncertainty. Allow logistics experts to handle the headaches, so you can continue to deliver to your customers the best products around.

3.      Customers Demand Quality Logistics

Next-Day, Same-day, Yesterday, customers want their items as soon as possible. COVID has shown us that the seller that can get items out the quickest will always prevail. Just look at the fiasco around the PS5 and Series X launch. Passionate customers are willing to pay thousands on top of the retail price to third-party sellers due to a lack of stock. Shipping complications in this eCommerce-dominated world will cost you countless sales. Every out-of-stock item, week-plus delivery time can irrevocably damage your customers’ loyalty. Ensure you can meet the demand with our YDL delivery options designed to ensure your products are reaching customers in a timeframe and budget your business needs.

If you are to take any lesson away from 2020, let it be this one. Logistics are more important than ever at this time and your business must put its best foot forward to ensure its survival. YDL is ready to serve your business, with logistics packages tailored to suit your business requirements. After all, we’re the people who ensure your needs are “Handled with Care- by People that Care”. Contact us today to begin your journey with us.
